As an award-winning researcher, Marc is shaping the global conversation about the role of emotional intelligence in learning, decision-making, creativity, relationships, physical and mental health, and workplace performance.

Jessica specializes in developing school-based approaches, including RULER and inspirED, to enhance creativity, promote positive school climates, and support mental health. Her research focuses on the efficacy of emotion skills instruction on school climate, creative problem solving, and emotion regulation in secondary schools.

Nikki Elbertson

Nikki Elbertson, MEd

In various research and training roles at the Center since 2002, Nikki has contributed to the development, implementation, and evaluation of RULER from early childhood through high school. She has co-authored many of the Center’s research studies and curricula, including scholarly articles, papers, and book chapters.

Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence

For over 25 years, Tangular has worked as an educator in Connecticut, serving students of all ages (preK to adults) as a building administrator, curriculum supervisor, and classroom teacher. She is also an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University’s Farrington College of Education and a published author of two children’s books, two coloring books, and two journals.

General

This symposium is designed for preK–12 school and district leaders including superintendents, principals, assistant principals, directors of curriculum, SEL directors, and other administrators committed to educator well-being and emotionally intelligent leadership.
Yes. The symposium is an in-person experience at Yale University in New Haven, CT. Sessions are not available virtually.
Sessions will not be recorded. The symposium is designed as an immersive, in-person experience and content is exclusive to registered attendees.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion. Please check with your district regarding eligibility for professional development credit.
All team registrations include the same access as individual tickets. Attendance in 2-day session, networking reception, digital resources, and optional Yale campus tour.

Travel & logistics

The symposium is held at the Yale Greenberg Center, 391 Prospect St., New Haven, CT 06511. New Haven is accessible by Amtrak and Metro-North rail, and via I-95 and I-91 by car. Complimentary on-site parking is available at the Greenberg Center.
The nearest airports are Bradley International (BDL) and New Haven Airport via Avelo Airlines (HVN). New York area airports (JFK, LGA, EWR) are also accessible. For ground transportation, contact Red Dot Airport Shuttle or Serlin International Limousine.
We have negotiated discounted room blocks at two nearby hotels: Book early as these room blocks are limited.
Breakfast and lunch are included both days, with coffee and tea available from 30 minutes before training begins. Gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian options are available. Please contact us if you have an allergy beyond this scope.
Dress is business casual and we recommend wearing layers. Please bring your laptop or smart device, school calendar, and curriculum maps. These materials will be used as you work with trainers and your team to develop implementation ideas.
Yes! Optional Yale campus tours are available on Sunday July 19 at 4:30 PM and Monday July 20 at 5:00 PM, departing from the Yale Visitor Center at 149 Elm Street, New Haven, CT. There is also an optional Emotionally Intelligent Pizza Tour on Monday at 5:30 PM.
